LaMode Design Studios is a family run business with Penny our Bridal Alteration Specialist and son David Alexander our Fashion/Bridal Designer. Our team strive to create the couture outfit of your dreams, may it be the wedding dress you've always dreamed of or the perfect outfit for an important occasion you will always remember. With our in house designer we will take you through the entire process of creating that perfect outfit from the first complimentary consultation through to the final fitting. If you have already found that special outfit we are here to alter the garment to give you the best fit possible. With over 35 years combined expertise you are in safe hands.
Meet Our Designers
In 2013 Penny and David founded ‘LaMode Design Studios’ based in their home town Dundee which has become the go to for bridal designs and alterations. In less than three years the pair grew the business where they continue to be successful creating bespoke bridal, evening wear, commercial wear, unique jackets, shirts and embroidered t-shirts.
David Alexander
Fashion Designer
Dundee based Fashion Designer David Alexander was born into a family with a long line of seamstresses and naturally developed a flair for Fashion and Design. His mother Penny caught onto this at a young age and started to develop David’s skills teaching him the ins and outs of creating garments.
After completing High School, David accepted a place on Huddersfield Universities prestigious Fashion Design with Textile, Manufacturing and Tailoring course which led to a BA (HONS) degree.
Whilst showcasing his final collection at the Universities Fashion Show with his spectacular menswear collection David caught the eye of the co-owner of MISH MASH jeans and was offered a job working along side the head designer at MISH MASH. On the back of his success from his final show at the University David was also asked to showcase his work at the Harrogate Fashion Week. David’s most recent showcasing was for the Dundee Fashion week in 2018 where he wowed the crowds with the infamous flower dress that received a lot of press attention.

Penny Mather
Bridal Specilist
Born 1960 into a family of seamstresses Penny at a young age inherited the skill of the trade from her mother and her mother before her.
In 1976 Penny moved to Dundee, using her skill led her to a job working for ‘LEVI’s’ based in Dundee. Her high level of expertise leads her to becoming the head seamstress doing all aspects of the process in constructing the brand ‘LEVI’s’.
Pennys next career move led her into the prestigious ‘Dianne & Lynn Bridal’ becoming the top bridal specialist alterations expert and head fitter. Helping customers get that perfect fit for that perfect day. Whist working for the bridal shop by day she was also designing evening wear and making alterations at her home studio.
